Areas of Focus
Providing support to family members of those with serious mental illness ( I have served on the CSB PACT team as a therapist/case manager for those suffering from mental illness as well as a community based provider/director serving the SMI population)
I get joy from my work with tweens/teenagers and their support systems addressing issues ranging from social and generalized anxiety, boundaries, confidence issues, trauma, body image concerns, anger, depression and self-harm behaviors behavioral challenges and social issues (I have gained expereince working with teens for many years in the residential setting as well as out patient)
I work with women throughout the life span struggling with anxiety/depression, perimenopause/menopause, interpersonal relationships, parenting concerns and self-esteem.
I have training in intuitive eating which I apply to the treatment of binge eating disorder, I also work with folks that want to couple therapy with the use of GLP1’s to improve their relationship with body and food.
Additionally I am a board certified supervisor for social work supervisees.
Having been in the field for 20 years I have had exposure to many different populations, modalities and specialties. I combine cognitive behavioral therapy with concepts of polyvagal theory(mind, body, emotional connection).
My style in session is to rely heavily on the therapeutic relationship, to make it a comfortable safe space for you to open up. I think my clients would say I am authentic and I bring parts of myself into the room, such as humor, personal insight, experiences and relatability in addition to evidence based clincial practice. These traits are helpful to the work of reflection and self-exploration, in my gentle challening to implement growth and in creating an environment in which you can learn and I can help reinforce new skills.
How this all works
If you have never been to therapy before you may be wondering what the process is like. We offer a free 15 minute consultation to answer any questions you may have and make sure we are a good fit, and if not we can refer you to someone that hopefully will be. We will review scheduling options.
If you decide to move forward we will provide you with information to setup an account and get insurance verified.
Our first session together will be an opportunity for us to gather information from you about your history. We will discuss what your goals are and I may make recomendations for additional resources.
